Company Reaches its Goal to Provide Next Generation Wireless Broadband Access to Over 25% of All Maine Households - Launches New Service in Ellsworth and Cape Elizabeth.

December 28, 2015 – Camden, Maine.  Redzone Wireless, LLC, a Maine-based wireless Internet service provider (WISP), has reached its publicly stated goal to provide high speed internet access to 25% of Maine households through its powerful 4G LTE Advanced wireless broadband network with the activation of coverage in two new Maine communities – Ellsworth and Cape Elizabeth.

The expanded high speed Internet service in the communities of Cape Elizabeth and Ellsworth complements Redzone’s coverage in Westbrook, Bath, Camden, Rockland, Manchester, Augusta, Portland, Waterville, Auburn and Casco Bay.  All active sites were privately funded by Redzone, and all are now in full commercial operation.

“Redzone set an ambitious goal for 2015 and has achieved a major milestone by reaching over 137,500 Maine households with access to our next generation broadband network,” said Jim McKenna, Redzone Wireless, LLC President.  “The incredibly rapid expansion of our network and service area demonstrates the viability of 4G LTE and its critical role in addressing Maine’s broadband challenge quickly and affordably. While this is an important accomplishment for Redzone and Maine, our long term goal is to continue expanding coverage to reach more than 90% of Maine’s residents and businesses by 2018,” explained McKenna.

“Increasing access to robust, high speed broadband services at affordable rates is crucial to the economic success of our state. Today’s announcement is welcome news for businesses and families across Maine. This expansion will open opportunity and connectivity for our rural residents and help ensure that our state can continue to compete in the 21st century economy,” said U.S. Senator Susan Collins.

“The entire Redzone organization takes great pride in providing this new choice in broadband service to a sizable percentage of Maine’s residents,” said Michael Forcillo, Redzone Vice President.  “We have received thousands of requests for our high speed Internet service in just the first 6 months, and customer demand is increasing dramatically as we expand our coverage area,” added Forcillo.
