Redzone Wireless, LLC Announces Maine Broadband Network Expansion in Auburn

Company Expands 4G LTE Advanced Broadband Coverage and Service Availability to Over 14,000 New Households.

October 28, 2015 – Camden, Maine.  Redzone Wireless, LLC, a Maine-based wireless Internet service provider (WISP), has significantly expanded its powerful 4G LTE Advanced wireless broadband network with the activation of coverage in the greater Auburn area.

The expanded high speed Internet service in Auburn was privately funded by Redzone, and is now in full commercial operation.  Today’s network launch follows Redzone’s September announcement that network coverage had exceeded 100,000 Maine households.

Redzone has reached another important milestone by providing 4G LTE Advanced broadband network coverage to Maine’s 5th largest city.  “We are very proud to bring the world’s most advanced wireless broadband technology to the Auburn community,” said Jim McKenna, Redzone Wireless, LLC President. “With its capable and motivated municipal leadership, Auburn is now better positioned from a technology perspective to drive economic growth and development,” explained McKenna.

"To compete and grow as a community in the 21st century, to attract business investment and talent, you need to be connected,” said Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte. “That used to just mean having access to ports, rail, air or highways.  While Auburn still has some of Maine's most robust transportation infrastructure, this addition to our digital connectivity will continue to set us apart from peers in New England.  We thank Redzone for their investment, and welcome them to Auburn," added Mayor LaBonte.

“We welcome this opportunity to provide a new choice in broadband service to residents and businesses in the greater Auburn area,” said Michael Forcillo, Redzone Vice President.  “Our network is now available to 115,000 homes, representing more than 20% of all Maine households.  We now expect to exceed our goal of providing access to Better, Faster & Cheaper High Speed Internet to 25% of Maine’s population by the end of 2015,” added Forcillo.

The company has scheduled a press conference at Auburn City Hall on October 29th at 10am.  Redzone management will join Auburn municipal and business leaders to mark the network launch with a formal announcement & ribbon cutting.
